Reader poll: Where will Governor Ted's next paycheck come from?
From a fun little piece in Jeff Mapes's blog at the O (scary countdown to new reporter layoffs: any moment now), we learn that Governor Ted isn't going to retire after leaving office. He says his PERS pension isn't big enough, and so he'll continue to work even though he's pushing 70.
We all know that Goldschmidt lieutenants like Ted have many, many options when it comes to warming an Aeron chair at a public agency or big business here in Oregon. Which one do you think will wind up taking Ted?

Look, the guy is the Governor of Oregon. He's much more accomplished than you or I suspect just about anyone else who reads this blog. So, if he wants to find a job in Oregon, of course he is going to find a job. That's how it works.
The fact that a Governor of a state is going to find work in that state after he leaves office does not offend or surprise me.
And I voted for OHSU. I figure they owe him the most.
It won't be anything which involves the CoP. Two reasons -- the pond is too small, and no body on the city council will want a "name" like Sleepy Ted outshining any Mayor or council member.
The Port is a good possibility, as is Ater Wynn.
UO is out. They just hired a Prexy, and Mary hates Eugene. Ted has too many ill memories of driving to Eugene to bail on or another of his Duck kids out of jaal after the EPD arrested them in various riots.
My money is Ted the Fed in DOT or Veterans Affairs in DC as an undersecretary or deputy secretary after folks start bailing out of appointive jobs in the Obama administration after the Nov '10 elections.
I voted for SAIF. It's an easy place to find a cush job, and the can use him to lobby. I agree anything CoP related or even here in Portland just doesn't seem to match. OHSU would be my close second, but he's got no health background like Kitzhaber, so I see SAIF as the best spot.
Federal Agency, maybe, but he'd have to work. Does Obama need any ambassadors?

Besides, with his VA military retirement-benefits check he has already padded his PERS plenty more.

For me, the one good (and maybe only) public service Governor K. performed while in office was enacting my suggestion that, whenever LIARS called and demanded the Governor to appear to boost sick sick radio ratings, the governor's staff replies, "go STIFLE yourself, LIARS." Kulongoski so ordered, and staff so told LIARS to 'stick it' in his ear, per my advisement.

Gotta be Port of Portland - It'll make the Goldschmidt re-union dinners easier to schedule. That way they can get their orders all at once.
"He's much more accomplished than you"
Yeah, look at all he's done for the state i the past 8 years. He needs more nap-time.

Well...if what he was doing when he thrust himself upon the public is any indication...worker's compensation is where its at. SAIF or big law firm.

Isn't Kulongoski simply on sabbatical leave from the Oregon Supreme Court?, and scheduled back there when he term-limit's out of Salem?
Besides, with his VA military retirement-benefits check he has already padded his PERS plenty more.
... along with deferred Social Security benefits checks.
For me, the one good (and maybe only) public service Governor K. performed while in office was enacting my suggestion that, whenever LIARS called and demanded the Governor to appear to boost sick sick radio ratings, the governor's staff replies, "go STIFLE yourself, LIARS."
