It appears that the Portland Beavers won't be moving to the Westgate site in Beaverton after all. The city has promised not to condemn the site for baseball. The owners have reportedly agreed to "study information" about a possible stadium on their property, but I wouldn't be surprised if after today's meeting they got in their car and said, "Yeah -- study this."

So here's my question. Is Paulson going to come to his senses, realize that he isn't going to get what he wants the way he wants it, and get the hell out? Or is he going to follow in his father's footsteps and just sit down and throw a tantrum until Sam Adams and the Oregonian staff demand that we all stop picking on the nice widdle man?
I have the perfect site for a Beaver Baseball stadium: PGE Park. It's already been established beyond a doubt that separate stadiums is a want, not a need. Therefore this whole "crisis" about where to plop the Beavers is just unnecessary drama created by Paulson.
lw - I would hope you are right about the voters getting rid of Randy/Sam, but the Portland voters have repeatedly proven themselves too lazy or stupid to elect sensible and honest rulers, and get rid of the scum currently running the show - witness the impending failure of the Adams recall. Mencken said Democracy is the theory that the voters know what they want, & deserve to get it good & hard. Portland proves the point.
I was at the council meeting today and bringing baseball to Beaverton is far from dead...even at the Westgate site. There are a bunch of rumors about another site that has a much better chabce, but no one is talking. I have a feeling it's out near 26 and Cedar Hills...but no proof yet.
Still wondering why no one has considered Terminal 2 for something more useful than piling up concrete segments for the Big Pipe project. Right on the river, easy freeway access via US 30 / I-405, 12-15 blocks from their beloved Streetcar, and already owned by a government entity.
Oh, that's right, there's no URA dollars to steal there.
Leonard could give a crap what voters think. He also isn't concerned about re-election. He's got multiple public pensions to fall back on and probably has already arranged to go to work for Paulson or one of the developer weasels where he won't have any public accountability.
Did anyone stay up to watch the unbelievable end to the Raiders/Chargers game Monday night? For me that game was ruined, ruined I tell you, by the fact that the Oakland Coliseum is a multipurpose facility. Imagine having to play the Raiders on the same field as the Oakland Athletics, as well as, the “Major League” soccer team San Jose earthquakes? I mean, how hokey is that? I bet the Cowboys don’t share their Billion-dollar stadium with anybody.

Uh Bad Brad, the Raiders have been playing there since the 60's, always with the A's season overlapping(except for the LA Raiders experiment) so r u telling me 40 yrs or so of football at the Oakland Coliseum has been a big waste? How was it ruined for you last night? They built the granstand extension(Mt Davis) for the Raiders to come back from LA. It's the A's who really could use a new ballpark.

Yes, if Portland wants Beaver Ball back, I'm sure Sam and Randy could now extend the RiverDistrict URA to PGE Park.
Or they could do the same by slipping the Interstate URA under I-5 to Portland Meadows or Delta Park.
Or even easier, put the ballpark on the vacant OSHU properties in SoWhat with all their extra URA dollars.
But the voters might just get rid of the two for misuse of public funds if they try or do.
