Jasun Wurster, the guy heading up the Sam Adams recall effort, says he's got a speech to make at the Portland City Council meeting tomorrow morning. He's urging his dedicated followers to show up in support. With only 12 days to go before the petition deadline, you would think they'd have better things to do -- if they were anywhere near on track toward having enough signatures. We'll see in the morning, I guess.

It could be interesting to see what happens. Could be that they already have enough signatures and they are asking the creepster to step down to save the taxpayers some heartache and money publicly.
Maybe the gentleman that ran the righteous campaign wants to give creepy a face saving way out by stepping down and resigning before he forces him out.
Nice thought, Mako, but unless JW's got the stack of petitions with at least 120% of the necessary signatures with him, unlikely.
Adams has already converted the recall effort into his own personal fantasy movie of heroic stoicism and resolve in the face of homophobic persecution, so there's probably a part of him that hopes there are enough signatures to force a vote so his ultimate triumph can be that much grander.
The ORESTAR campaign finance report for the committee shows it has raised just $12,000 in cash, and all but $1,300 has been spent. Those numbers don't inspire any confidence.
Wow! How is this campaign not getting traction? Is it lack of organization, or do people really think Sam Adams should be allowed to stick around for a full term? I'm in shock that this isn't already a slam dunk. That said, I haven't seen petition organizers anywhere - shouldn't they be at the grocery stores and waterfront collecting signatures on the weekends?
The campaign is getting traction, on people's minds, but not on their hind ends, which they need to remove from their chairs/suction cups and bring down to the office at 421 N. Broadway, or any number of static signing locations.
Portlanders have become like so many sheep, used to all their political acts reduced to opening an envelope, ticking a few boxes, and finding a stamp.
The most upsetting thing of all is the absolute lack of dialogue/discussion ANYWHERE about the effect of Adams' lies on Sho Dozono, whose political career now has the final stamp of "beat by an almost 2-1 margin by Portland's most famous liar".
WHERE are the 60K people who voted for Sho Dozono? Do they have no guilt, sitting at home and sucking this up like this?
Truth, I think the "focus" will be on the several lawsuits against Adams that are in the works.
The paralegals and attorneys have been real busy with all the depositions. One thing the voters should think about is that it would be better to rid the city of Adams now in a recall than to wait for all the lawsuits that some will be paid for by us taxpayers in his defense if he is allowed to stay on as a city employee. We are talking MILLIONS of dollars to taxpayers.

Let's face the facts. With 11 days to go, the recall is not happening. It's time to focus on something else.

Maybe Wurster will be giving his concession speech. Of course he'll have to keep it under 3 minutes.
