Another area mayor in default

You wonder why our government is broke? The people we elect to govern us have a hard time managing money.

I'm willing to cut him some slack because a. He is a volunteer mayor
b. Divorce lawyers can be merciless.

Just sayin'

I had NO IDEA that Gresham's mayor is an unpaid position! I am sure it's more than a full-time job. So where has Shane Bemis' money been coming from since 2007?

Also, Bemis' mortgage payment was $4,654.31 a month. I think I read that Mayor Adams' payments were less than half that on two houses. And he has been earning well over $100,000 a year, without a divorce.

(That's not to say the aftermath of Scam's relationship and breakup with Beau has not been real expensive...)

I'm a divorce lawyer and I have mercy when it's warranted. Bemis paid THAT much for THAT house in THAT town?

No mercy for him.

Anyone got the 411 on him? what does he do for a paid living? and when does he have time to do it?

Bemis owns/operates a restaurant, "Bocelli's" in downtown Gresham. That is his other full-time job. The last poster has obviously never visited the Persimmon neighborhood in Gresham.

I've been to Persimmon. It's nice. But it is still a bit much to be way out in East County.

why in god's name would you spend that much for a house in gresham? that's like spending a million bucks in white salmon. good lord that's idiotic.

Ahhh.... Mayor Bemis....if only those restaurant tables could talk...... If you know what I mean....

$800,000+ for a house in Gresham is f'ing idiotic. Persimmon or not.

4,853 square feet. Three car garage. Four bedrooms. 3.5 baths. 0.85 acre lot size (not including 36 acre common area).

And his bio on the city of Gresham says of course that he's for sustainability.

At least he wasn't collecting money from renters and then failing to pay his mortgages like Sam Adams

Okay, I admit that making jokes about Gresham or Troutdale are much less entertaining then ten or twenty years ago. But that has nothing to do with a fella overpaying for a house in the 'burbs.

I've been to Persimmon. It's nice. But it is still a bit much to be way out in East County.

Meaning the shenanigans in Portland are more entertaining?
