How is this any different than all the late-night jokes and SNL skits about republicans?
the ones doing it are public servants in high offices. you're paying their salary while they do it. they're using your tax dollars to make and distribute it. they're acting as if making up jingles about the "Negro" coming to the White House has no meaning--which it does, of course, else-why do it?
the SNL skits are performed by actors, on television, paid for by advertising.
They have no clue as to why they lost the election do they? The RNC just doesn't get that they are so fu**ed up in their thinking that America elected a BLACK MAN to its highest office as a response to 8 years of W.
Who would have thought it possible just 18 months ago?
God Bless Obama. America needs him. The World needs him.
the ones doing it are public servants in high offices. you're paying their salary while they do it. they're using your tax dollars to make and distribute it. they're acting as if making up jingles about the "Negro" coming to the White House has no meaning--which it does, of course, else-why do it?
So you are saying public dollars are producing the cds? Somehow I doubt that. Paul Shanklin created the songs, and he is just another comedian/impersonator. He just happens to be a conservative one. (Rare, I know.)
He put out the cd, and is just a performer like the SNL actors. The "public servants" just bought his cd and handed it out to colleagues. Now if they used our tax dollars to purchase the cds, then there might be an argument to be had.
But I really dont see what the big deal is here. What I am afraid of however, is people being labeled "racist" when they say anything negative about Obama.
I'm doubtful that this was done on personal time, using personal equipment, without any "staff" involvement.
Are you talking about handing the cd out or the making of the music itself?
I really doubt the RNC was behind the production of the music and/or cd.
I understand your point about handing it out at work. But the CD itself is just another comedian. No different than a Carlin cd.
I read racism into MP97303 remarks. "America elected a BLACK MAN to its highest office as a response to 8 years of W." So, only because of Bush's performance, is that why a black man can ascend to our nations highest office? At least it's a condescending remark if not racist.
I get a kick out how often posters make comments that exhibit the exact same thing they are protesting.
No, this is not the Republican way. Are the actions of and statements by Democrat nut jobs and hatemongers representative of all Democrats? Of course not.
mp97303: I suspect you find what you are looking for
I found the same thing as lw, and I wasn't looking for it. I don't take issue with any of the rest of your post, though.
Face it, Obama won simply because he was the best candidate for the job. The response to 8 years of W more likely was manifested in the disproportional allocation of congressional seats to Democrats in the same election that put a Democrat in the White House, especially after the gains by Democrats in 2006 - now that's a bit more unusual.
Since both of you took offense to my comment, then let me offer my apologies to you.
While the intent of my comment is far too difficult to explain here, let me assure you that there was NO racist undertone to my comment. If we were talking face to face, I feel confident that I could adequately explain to you what I meant by the comment.

Sure, so long as it's not limited to Christmas. The Party that Wrecked America likes to share that same spirit all year 'round.

I'm doubtful that this was done on personal time, using personal equipment, without any "staff" involvement.

it's not about Shankin. it's about the guy who's a politician distributing it.
but above all of this is the profound ignorance and puny moral stature that comes with telling your friends to listen to a song about the "negro".
