Here's a funny blog that an alert reader pointed me to yesterday. A small sample:
A good place to find white people on a Saturday is at a Bike Shop. Bike shops are almost entirely staffed and patronized by white people!
But not all white people love bicycles in the same way, there is much diversity....
The Prius might be the most perfect white product ever. It’s expensive, gives the idea that you are helping the environment, and requires no commitment/changes other than money....
Recycling is fantastic! You can still buy all the stuff you like (bottled water, beer, wine, organic iced tea, and cans of all varieties) and then when you’re done you just put it in a DIFFERENT bin than where you would throw your other garbage. And boom! Environment saved! Everyone feels great, it’s so easy!...
Once breakup proceedings have been initiated, a white person is immediately thrust into the center of attention in their circle of friends. During this time, they are permitted to talk at great lengths about themselves, listen to The Smiths, and get free dinners from friends who think "they shouldn’t be alone right now."
It is imperative that you do not attempt to kick them out of their misery by saying things like "get over it," "there are other people out there," or "I don’t want to read your poem." Implying that there things in the world more important to you than their breakup is considered one of the rudest actions possible....
Please head over there and read some of it before coming back here to call me a racist. Thank you.

Some people are vilified for their bigotry, some get celebrated.
One of my old boozing pals/roomate from my early days in PDX forwarded this to me yesterday. It is hilarious--never crossed my mind that it was racist. Guess that makes me a baaaaddd person.
The Prius is expensive? Not really. Mine cost $24K brand new, and I got $4,500 of that back in tax credits. I also get 55mpg, and at $3/gallon, that adds up quick. Some of that $24K was options--I could have had one with less doo dads for $21K, and still would have gotten $4,500 back.
Not really sure where this "teh Prius is expensive!1!!11!1" stuff comes from.
(a) substitute "Black" or "Asian" or "Mexican" for "White", or
(b) remember that "White" people are more diverse than what you see on television or at Starbucks or the Mythical Land of The Inner East Side of Portland.
whatever a "White" person is, anyway.
anybody else dog-tired of cheap, tired, racial stereotypes that really aren't even about race but culture and class?
Richard Pryor helped Mel Brooks write Blazing Saddles.
Learn something new every day. Perhaps the entire nation should sit back and watch that scene in "Silver Streak" where the janitor catches Gene Wilder acting all funky and putting on Blackface in the mirror.
Anyone running for public office reading this ? You have my vote if you see to it that the work of Mel Brooks is permanently made integral to our entire educational system.

I was thinking I could use some psychotherapy, but that blog took care of it. Now I'm off to spinning class.

It kind of stereotypes ALL white people into the Hawthorne/23rd eco-barista-creative class.
I live in the suburbs, shop at walmart, and the only reason I recycle is for the 5 cent deposit.

Many white people are incapable of recognizing satire.
Posted by Gen. Ambrose Burnside, Ret. | February 22, 2008 1:51 PM
Not true. I think Blazing Saddles is one of the best examples of cinema satire ever.
Posted by J Hoffa | February 22, 2008 2:26 PM
Blazing Saddles was brought to us by Jewish people, not whites. Best comedy of all time that it may be, it would bring lawsuits if made today.
