We attended a lovely cocktail party last evening at a home directly under the OHSU aerial tram [rim shot]. We didn't actually see the thing go over, but we could see the cables from our hosts' bedroom window during a tour of the house. Yep, we're told, the passengers do wave back, but you have to be careful where you walk when you're undressed.
Probably the worst of it is looking east down Gibbs Street and seeing the giant tower -- quite the ugly contraption. But hey, without it, OHSU would have taken all the money it has lying around and moved to Hillsboro. Plus, think of all the fun we'll have when the thing gets a little older!

Get over it?
"It" aint over yet, so we don;t know what it is for us to get over.
With the fiscal bleeding in SoWa and OHSU only now coming into the real light of day there is much more of "it" coming.
"Getting over "it", as "it" gets worse is pure follishness and will only serve to make "it" much worse.
Outrage over it needs to be tenfold, not gotten over.
When is enough? Is the death of a child enough? (JESSICA'S LAW), must we have a death of a child to correct a problem that is fixable, it sure seems that way!
I will not understand why we must get hit a thousand times before we hit back.
I'm scared as my 61st birthday is this Monday, that this cities true citizens have lost the will to fight in more ways then just one.
If we will not fight to save where we live from one arrogant, power crazed elected offical...will we really fight if this country is hit again in ways we all don't want to think about.

Sounds like maybe you had some quality time at the Gun Show today!
DAMN...You missed a few good items, like a sale on OPTICS!
Ammo prices are up, if you ever get interested in this hobby, I could help you learn to reload.
Trust me Allan, If you have really "nice" neighbors as I have, you don't ever want to run out of .223 77 grain ammo.
You can ask Jack about my "nice" neighbors, perhaps you want to do outreach in your neighoborhood..I CAN, give you the number of CASCADIA HEALTHCARE, they are always looking for do-gooders as yourself.
but you have to be careful where you walk when you're undressed.
Hmmm. What statutes apply here ? I mean, you can be naked in your own house if any open windows are not visible from the street, right ? And if I remember correctly, when this ridiculous ski lift we are forced to help pay for was still in the planning and construction stage, the residents of the neighborhood were promised that the Tram's passengers would not be able to see directly into their houses, right ?
So is the aerial tram defined as "the street" or something, in the context of naked you being visible through your window ?
Personally, I would spend as much quality naked time as possible in full view of the tram, if I owned a house underneath it, after all of the half-truths and outright lies put forth by OHSU and the City from the get-go.
There is no Library in my childs elementary school due to lack of funds, and they serve dogs*** in the Cafeteria. Yet, the city can come up with $40+ Million to bail out the tram. I will NEVER get over it EVER.

Get over it? Only if OHSU never asks the city for another bailout or operating subsidy.
It's there. But how long will it last?
That "bend" about two-thirds of the way up the tower looks like the weakest link. I will be surprised if it survives the Big One.
