There's an impromptu rally being thrown together in downtown Portland at 5:15 this afternoon to protest Bush's veto of the Iraq pullout deadline bill. Headlining the speeches will be John Edwards, who to me is this country's best candidate to succeed Bush.
The event is being held on the South Park Blocks in front of the Art Museum. Please allow yourself extra time to get through that area. Hastily called events tend not to include as many mainstream protesters as those that are scheduled far in advance. But the anarchist types who have nothing to do but be ugly always seem to find time in their busy schedules. Let's hope the rally is peaceful and forceful at the same time.

Let's hope the rally is peaceful and forceful at the same time.
Let's be realistic about the likelihood of the "peaceful" part. If I'm not mistaken, the popular position is that hating Bush justifies ANY behavior.
Here's hoping the Guv will be there to give John some advice on how to hold expenses down. I noticed that the Guv's expenditure for food this past week included a gallon a milk bought for a buck. One single dollar according to the NY Times, or maybe my eyes were deceiving me. I'd like to know were he found that deal.

Have I missed a memo? Why do you keep calling him Jackie? To my ear, it seems condescending at best, demeaning at worst. Something I might hear Hannity call him if he weren't already calling him The Breck Girl.
I sure hope my I'm correct when I say that John Edwards is far too liberal to win the presidency. People are upset about Iraq, that doesn't mean they want to live in a socialist society.
M.H. Wilson - Safeway and Fred Meyer have $1-for-a-gallon-of-milk sales pretty regularly :)
Sorry Jack that was my evil conservative side of all the candidate's for the Democrats I rather see Edwards get the nomination. An honest debate would best.
Breck Girl is perfect. Because that is the equivalent of his experience to be President. He has accomplished nothing other than using junk science to become rich in the legal profession and look really pretty. He speaks well, looks good, has money, and nothing else but the hipocrisy of his "Two Americas" and his twenty eight thousand sqare foot house.

Better than a draft-dodging coke head bailed out by his father's connections. He couldn't even master high school biology, much less law or "junk science."
Get used to it, Butch. You can have this guy, Obama or Hillary. Bwahahahhaha!
Safeway and Fred Meyer have $1-for-a-gallon-of-milk sales pretty regularly :)
I shop Safeway and Fred Meyer regularly, use coupons, and double coupons, buy milk regularly...and I can't recall ever seeing a $1.00 per gallon coupon for milk. Fred Myer often sells HALF gallons for a buck, and both Freddie's and Safeway have reduced the price of milk...but a dollar coupon? Show me the money, uh, coupon.
Why John Edwards? I haven't seen anything so far to recommend him even as a serious candidate. And I do question his professional background.
Hillary is obviously one of the most capable candidates. But the other day I saw a bumper sticker that said, "Pre-impeach Hillary." Is that a hate crime?
McCain used to be my fav. But now he's lost it and supports the War. I may again vote for "None of the above."
I know for sure that Edwards's son, John, goes by Jack. I distinctly remember that the candidate did too, as a boy, but I'll be darned if I can find that reference now.

It was at a Fred Meyer, and he had a coupon.
Why do you keep calling him Jackie?
Because that was his nickname as a kid.
And mine.

Out of those three, I'd much prefer Hillary.
I wish Thompson (Fred, not Tommy) and Mike Erickson would hurry up and declare so we can get to work.
