According to the article in this morning's O, Rosie Sizer was selected "...because she carries the respect of Portland officers.". So he jumps her over the three Assistant Chiefs (Ferraris, Grubbs, Elmore) for a temporary posting. Sounds to me like these three must function more like administrative assistants than "Assistant Chiefs" as apparently none are capable of filling in as Chief on a temporary basis as they don't enjoy the respect of the rank and file. What a slap in the face.
But then I read that Rosie Sizer is married to Dan Noelle and it gets even more curious. Aside from the fact that Sizer sounds like she could make a great Chief, could this be another slap - to Sheriff Bernie?
Well, I certainly hope his mother took away his Internet priviliges.
But the real joke is on Angie whose case is going to crumble like W's WMD house of cards. I hear Foxy's lawyers want to call all the guys she's dated, but there isn't a courtroom in Portland big enough to hold em all.
Is the Convention Center available for a court hearing?
So is there any truth to the rumor that Potter caved into the blonde's union representatives after they agreed to drop their call for an independent outside investigation of the Police Bureau that might have included exploring Potter's own alleged similar secret behaviors years ago?
I just don't get it. The Oregonian lynches Derrick Foxworth for lack judgement, and they give Sheriff Bernie Giusto a pass, despite Bernie's well-known romances, his lack of judgement regarding those relationships and his abuse of power regarding them.
There is no equal and non-biased treatment here.
I just don't understand why we aren't talking about the obvious racism in the media's judgement without a trial or the facts.
I blame the Oregonian for the downfall of a decent human being who made mistakes. I guess some people deserve more severe punishment than others. Some of you posters may believe that, but I don't.
Icky Bernie dates one of his best pal's former wives (double icky) in public, they go on vacation together and he sics the cops on his old pal for kicks, but no, they are NOT doing the nasty.
Neil G. has more credibility because at least he admitted the truth. Bernie still has issues with the "truth", like most cops I have known and taught.
I just don't get it. The Oregonian lynches Derrick Foxworth for lack judgement, and they give Sheriff Bernie Giusto a pass, despite Bernie's well-known romances, his lack of judgement regarding those relationships and his abuse of power regarding them.
The big difference with Foxworth is that the presence of those lurid emails makes it hard to put the issue on the back burner. The classic warning "don't write it down" was never more relevant. I suspect that if a former paramour of Bernie's came up with equally graphic emails from him, the Oregonian would have a harder time sidestepping the issue.
The O is perfectly fair. There was a blurb this morning about Bernie's one contributor to his campaign - Lee Jeddeloh. Of course, it was 100 words in the "Briefs" section buried on page 3 of the Metro section, but they cover him, too.
I just read the latest piece on KATU about the new chief's personnel changes @ the Police Dept--they are extensive. A little odd for someone just keeping the desk warm to do a huge shake-up at the HQ, don't you think? Makes me think Chief Foxworth isn't coming back anytime soon.

Sorry to post again so soon, but I had to add this gem. The Big O just posted a brief story and a picture of Potter & Foxworth. The caption read:
Mayor Tom Potter (on left) says he received many e-mails and calls the past few days requesting for the chief's leave during the investigation.
"(On left)"? How many people can't tell Tom Potter from Derrick Foxworth?
Posted by Hinckley | April 11, 2006 6:00 PM
Didn't Potter just say he wasn't going to do this exact thing? Pretty quick turnaround, no?

So is there any truth to the rumor that Potter caved into the blonde's union representatives after they agreed to drop their call for an independent outside investigation of the Police Bureau that might have included exploring Potter's own alleged similar secret behaviors years ago?
Make you want to say... Hmmm

Yes, Karin. BINGO!

Neil "admitted" the truth after he couldn't pay enough people off to keep it hidden any longer. Hardly gives him much credibility.

If Portland government was a tv show, would it be a drama or comedy? This stuff gets crazier every day.

"If Portland government was a tv show..." Slacker, it is - it's called Reno 911 and it's on the Comedy Channel.
